I grow businessbeyond marketing.

I start with the business problem, then design the marketing. 18+ years across global agencies, high-growth startups, and finance, from brand work that won Cannes to performance that had to pay for itself.

The short version

I started building businesses in 2007 while still at university. Learned by selling first, then studied the craft properly.

Spent five years in global agencies (Lowe, TBWA, Leo Burnett, VML) on brand and full-stack creative, the work that won a Cannes Lions. Switched to startups in 2018 and flipped the focus to performance: downloads, leads, revenue. Ran growth at both extremes, Gojek with big budgets and majoo with almost none. That forced the growth-hack discipline. Then five years at Mirae Asset building structure, cutting unnecessary agency spend, and protecting the company from the tricks I already knew.

One consistent habit: every marketing activity has to beat its cost.

Right now I’m choosing the next role carefully and taking on a few consulting projects while I do.

Hands-on with Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, AppsFlyer, MoEngage, WhatsApp Business automation.

Marketing is the tool. Business is the goal.

I start from the business target and work backward. Good products come first. Marketing amplifies them. Nothing gets approved unless it clearly moves a business number. Marketing judged on revenue impact, not reach.

Reframe a problem before jumping to solution.

Most briefs hand you a tactic disguised as a question. I rewrite the brief into a business question first. The work changes depending on whether the goal is volume, margin, or retention, even when the surface request looks identical.

Business impact is the foundation. Find solutions based on impact.

Before any spend, I ask whether the product or offer is actually ready to receive it. A campaign that doesn’t move a number I can point to isn’t a campaign. It’s spend with a deadline.

Target clearly, experiment systematically.

Start with one number you’re trying to move. Break it into the smallest pieces that contribute to it. Treat each piece as an experiment, double down on what works, cut what doesn’t, repeat until the gap closes.

Find the moat before you write the message.

Most growth problems get treated as acquisition problems when they’re actually positioning problems. I look for the combination of facts about the product a competitor can’t copy. The message follows from that.

The path

2007–2012

Entrepreneur

First ventures while at Universitas Diponegoro. Learned demand and supply by selling.

2013–2018

Agencies

Strategic planner upward at Lowe, TBWA, Leo Burnett, VML. Brand and full-stack creative. National Winner at Young Lions during the TBWA years, representing Indonesia at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. That win led to a direct offer from the CEO of Leo Burnett Indonesia.

2018–2019

Gojek / GoLife

Performance at scale when budget is not the limit.

2019–2021

majoo

Growth for an SME SaaS on a tight budget. Where the growth-hack muscle was built.

2021–Apr 2026

Mirae Asset Sekuritas

Head of Marketing Innovation (VP level). Set up AppsFlyer attribution to measure paid performance by channel and campaign, guiding budget allocation. Built MoEngage as the CRM platform and A/B tested to a 30% open rate. Brokered the Tomoro Coffee co-marketing partnership. Cut marketing cost 40% by bringing creative production in house.

May 2026–now

Independent consulting

Scoped engagements across fintech, impact, and SMEs: IIX (completed, the Orange Economy Summit and the Orange Index soft launch), PT Solid Karya Nusantara, and PT Visi Sinergi Optimal. Choosing the next full-time role deliberately.

Recognition

The work

Each case study reads as brief → reframe → insight → approach → outcome.

Borderless

Ajaib Group · Head of Growth case study, 2026
Brief

Design a KOL strategy to grow crypto trading volume 5x.

Reframe

The real question wasn’t how to grow volume. It was what role KOLs should play at all.

Insight

Lapsed users didn’t leave because Ajaib lacked features. They left because switching costs were habitual, not functional.

Approach

Split growth into inward (reactivating existing users) and outward (KOL-led migration from competitors), with KOLs paid on volume generated, not registrations.

Outcome: the full framework reached the stated 5x target across six tactics. (Case study project, not implemented.)

GoLife

Gojek · Brand & go-to-market strategy, 2018
Brief

Define the go-to-market strategy for GoLife: target consumer, channels, launch plan, and core message.

Reframe

The opportunity wasn’t winning any one service category. It was the 9 million+ user gap between Indonesia’s super-apps and the smaller standalone service apps.

Insight

Urban millennials were time-poor by circumstance, not preference. The pain point wasn’t the service category. It was anything that paused their momentum.

Approach

Built the brand around “life in motion,” not any single service. Launched under “Hidup Tanpa Jeda,” localized per city. Sequenced the funnel: awareness and registration first via Gojek’s owned channels, then activation and retention.

Outcome: became the foundation for GoLife’s brand positioning, later supporting 100+ campaigns a year and 20,000+ monthly orders across 7+ sub-brands.

M-STOCK

Mirae Asset Sekuritas · Campaign launch strategy, 2023
Brief

Launch M-STOCK as part of a coherent corporate story, not just another product announcement competing with the company’s own other offerings.

Reframe

The real problem wasn’t the launch itself. Every product team ran campaigns from its own point of view, creating redundant spend and a public that couldn’t say clearly what Mirae Asset actually was.

Insight

Indonesia’s investment gap wasn’t really an access problem. It was a literacy and confidence gap. The target audience was people who already had access but lacked the confidence to use it.

Approach

Built a three-tier message hierarchy (corporate → product → campaign) so launches reinforced one brand story. Sequenced the launch in three phases: internal advocacy first, a small invited cohort next for real feedback, then mass market once both were in place.

Outcome: 0 to 400,000+ downloads in under 18 months at about $0.11 average CPA (IDR 1,750), ahead of the internal target.

Thinking out loud

Notes on growth, frugal marketing, and treating marketing like an investment.
